WTF is a Barbell Club?

Why do you have ‘Barbell Club’ in your name? The short answer is that we design our training around the barbell and many exercise variations using it (Squat/Bench/Deadlift). 

The long answer is that while growing up many gyms that I came across were called either Lifter Clubs or Barbell Clubs. In these gyms you would see people lifting HEAVY WEIGHT and seeking peak maximum physical development! Some training just to get big and jacked. Others training for powerlifting or weightlifting competitions. Nowadays, many gyms are the large commercial gyms that have tons of machines and cardio equipment in a 5,000 sq ft facility with ‘fitness’ after their name.  

Unleashed is not that… This barbell club offers training to members who may or may not have experience with the barbell. It’s coach led training in a small group setting. This allows for the coaches to give more hands on instruction, individualized coaching, and alternatives to people just starting or for  any limitations. I get it! It can be pretty intimidating if you’ve never really trained before and even scary using a barbell. But, we offer structure, coaching, and a plan to improve your health and fitness to feel stronger and to love what you see in the mirror. 

The goal of UBC is offer training to anyone that wants to improve their lifestyle by improving their physical fitness. And the barbell has a huge return on investment that utilizes multiple large muscle groups at a time. Don’t be afraid. It’s like riding a bike!
